DATA METHODOLOGY
Where the numbers come from.

Live gold and silver prices
The headline gold and silver quotes are indicative USD spot-market references supplied by Gold API. They refresh approximately once per minute while the page is open. These are informational reference prices, not executable offers from a specific dealer or exchange.
Local-currency conversion
Local prices multiply the current USD metal reference by the latest available foreign-exchange reference rate from Yahoo Finance. A country code attached to the request by the hosting network provides an initial language and currency suggestion; precise location is not requested. Visitors can override both at any time, and their selections are stored only on that device.
FX reference rates and metal quotes may update at different times. Converted prices are therefore indicative and can differ from card, bank or dealer rates.
Today's intraday chart
The Today Live view embeds TradingView's one-minute XAU/USD or XAG/USD global spot chart. The chart naturally stops adding observations when the weekday spot market is closed. TradingView controls its underlying venues, displayed price, timestamps and any applicable data delay.
The session ribbon shows approximate UTC overlaps for Sydney, Hong Kong and Tokyo, London and New York. It is orientation for global market activity, not an exchange's official opening-hours calendar.
Fast historical chart
The GoldPriceNow fast chart uses COMEX continuous gold or silver futures history from Yahoo Finance. Intraday and long-range periods use different sampling intervals so the selected timeframe remains readable. Futures prices can differ from spot because of contract timing, financing, storage and market structure.
TradingView charts and technical ratings
The advanced chart, intraday chart, technical-analysis rating, market-news timeline and economic calendar are embedded from TradingView. TradingView controls its symbols, indicator calculations, exchange coverage, displayed timestamps and any applicable delay. A technical rating summarizes moving averages and oscillators; it is not a recommendation. Gold uses XAU/USD and the silver technical panel uses TradingView's TVC:SILVER symbol.
Performance calculations
Performance uses the LBMA Gold Price PM and LBMA Silver Price daily benchmark histories in U.S. dollars. The latest live XAU/USD or XAG/USD spot quote is appended when it is newer than the most recent benchmark observation. Period performance compares that latest price with the benchmark nearest the start of each period.
Annual returns compare year-end benchmark observations. The current year uses the latest available spot quote. Multi-currency tables convert each year using the corresponding year-end foreign exchange reference before calculating the percentage change. These are indicative reference values, not executable prices.
Gold calculator methodology
The scrap, coin and bar calculators request the same indicative XAU/USD reference used for the site's headline gold price and convert one troy ounce to 31.1034768 grams. Scrap value multiplies converted gram weight by karat divided by 24 and then by the current price per gram. An optional refining fee is deducted only when a visitor enables it.
Coin and bar specifications use published mint or standard bullion weights and fineness. Displayed premium ranges are broad educational references, not live dealer offers. They exclude taxes, shipping, payment fees, grading and collectible or numismatic value.
Email price alerts
Price alerts use the same indicative USD-per-troy-ounce Gold API reference as the live gold and silver cards. A Google Apps Script trigger runs every 15 minutes and skips weekends and the normal daily metals-market maintenance break. When the latest observed price satisfies an active above-or-below condition, the script sends one transactional email and marks the alert as triggered.
Alerts are not tick-by-tick and do not guarantee notification at the exact crossing price. Market gaps, provider delays, trigger timing, Google service availability and email delivery can affect the price or time shown.
Market Pulse
Market Pulse automatically compares recent gold and silver momentum, the gold/silver ratio, the U.S. Dollar Index and the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield. Its “tailwind”, “headwind” and relative-strength labels are deterministic summaries of those observations. They show association, not proof of causation, predictions or investment recommendations.
Latest-news feed
The Latest News section checks official public RSS feeds from Investing.com, FXStreet and MINING.COM approximately every five minutes, filters for gold, silver and closely related macroeconomic terms, removes duplicate headlines and orders the remainder by publication time. Each headline links to the publisher; GoldPriceNow displays only a title and short feed-provided summary.
Reuters does not provide GoldPriceNow with a direct feed. A Reuters byline is shown only when a Reuters story is publicly syndicated through Investing.com's official commodities RSS feed, and the link therefore opens that Investing.com page.
The same aggregated headline list is available as an RSS 2.0 feed at goldpricenow.info/rss.xml. Feed readers decide how frequently to poll it; the website does not collect subscriber email addresses.
Seasonality calculations
Seasonality uses up to 20 years of monthly COMEX continuous-futures closing prices from Yahoo Finance. For each calendar month, GoldPriceNow calculates the average month-over-month percentage return, median return and the share of observations that were positive. Continuous futures can be affected by contract rolls and differ from physical spot prices.
A recurring historical pattern is descriptive, not predictive. It does not account for current monetary policy, geopolitics, supply, demand or a visitor's investment objectives.
Language and regional preferences
On a first visit, the interface uses the hosting network's two-letter country code to suggest a supported language and local currency. Serbia, for example, opens in Serbian Latin and Serbian dinars. Unsupported countries remain in English and U.S. dollars. Visitors can change either preference at any time; their selection is then stored locally and takes priority.
Polymarket data
The prediction-markets section queries Polymarket's public API for active gold and silver events, removes duplicates and displays up to five events ranked by reported 24-hour volume. The displayed “Yes” percentage is a live market price, not an objective probability, GoldPriceNow forecast or recommendation. Market access may be restricted in some jurisdictions.
Business enquiry form
Dealer, refining, advertising, sponsorship and education-partnership enquiries are sent through a server-side route to a private, account-owned Google Form. New-response notifications are enabled for the site owner. The destination email address is not displayed on the website.
Corrections and questions
If you notice a stale quote, source discrepancy or calculation issue, use the partnership and enquiry form and include the page, timestamp and value you observed.
